Real Life Story

My knees were hurting really bad and I had a big cross country track meet coming up soon. I saw my doctor and was referred to Orrock/Mendenhall Sports Medicine. I was taught how to run properly and how to stretch before and after each race. Soon the pain in my knees started to go away. I was able to build up the strength in my legs and run in the race. I am so thankful for their help and time they spent with me. It really helped a lot!

With the excitement in the air to get out on the playing field, there always seems to follow with it an increase in sports-related injuries. Today’s young athletes are starting younger and focusing on one or two sports, often participating in them throughout the year. Recovery time for these nagging, and all too frequent injuries seems non-existent. Unfortunately, these overuse-type injuries are very prevalent and seem to be on the rise. Improper techniques or training are a couple of the factors that lead to most injuries.

At Orrock/Mendenhall Sports Medicine, we not only treat the injury, but we focus on addressing the underlying causes. With a young baseball pitcher, we might see improper pitching mechanics and decreased strength of the core and shoulder muscles. With young soccer players, it may be tight muscles in the calf or hip areas causing knee pain. We are very excited to help your young aspiring athletes.
